Coldwater Hollow

Solo Developer

My active solo horror project: a lakeside night shift, everyday responsibilities, and a growing sense that something is wrong.

A night shift by the lake

Coldwater Hollow follows a worker assigned to the night shift at a lakeside recreation area. Bungalows, campsites, and caravan spaces bring everyday responsibilities: responding to complaints, handling maintenance, and patrolling the grounds.

The planned experience unfolds over several nights. Familiar work routines gradually give way to unease, while rumors about the lake and surrounding forest shape the atmosphere.

Status: In active development. Story and gameplay details may evolve.

Building the narrative foundation

Alongside the game, I’m developing NarrativeFramework, a modular C++ plugin for Unreal Engine. It separates runtime systems from editor tooling and integrates with Flow, Enhanced Input, and CommonUI.

The framework’s implementation includes dedicated modules for:

  • Narrative facts and objectives, with Flow nodes for querying state and controlling progression.
  • Dialogue runtime and editor support.
  • Interaction agents, sensors, and targets.
  • Save systems and world markers.
  • Presentation, input, audio, and UI infrastructure.

Design approach

The goal is to connect everyday tasks with narrative progression through reusable systems. I’m building the tools and runtime foundation alongside the game, so story content can evolve without every new sequence requiring its own isolated implementation.
